چکیده
Introduction: The use of polyethylene glycol-based solutions is the gold standard for bowel preparation colonoscopy. However, glycol might be associated with risk acute kidney injury. We aim to find out injury and factors development in patients using colonoscopy.Materials Methods: This was an observational study conducted Department Nephrology Gastroenterology, Bir hospital. Patients who underwent colonoscopy were included assessed injury; its incidence, association injury, outcome (complete recovery or no recovery) by 3 months. Results: mean age 45.81 ± 18.60 years majority being male (60%). Out 48 participants, 4(8%) develop Multivariate regression analysis depicted that chronic disease, liver congestive cardiac failure, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, angiotensin receptor blockers, diuretics drugs predictors which significantly influenced occurrence glycol. Conclusions: evidence strongly suggests without preexisting renal comorbidities, drugs; impairment low after as a cleansing agent. In presence dysfunction, should used cautiously.

A prospective randomised study comparing polyethylene glycol and sodium phosphate bowel cleansing solutions for colonoscopy.
Polyethylene glycol (Klean-Prep, Norgine) is widely used for bowel cleansing in the United Kingdom. This study compares the efficacy, acceptability and adverse effects of a polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution with sodium phosphate (Fleet Phospho-soda, De Witt) for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. Two hundred and nine consecutive patients were prospectively randomised to either PEG or sodi...
متن کاملImproving of bowel cleansing effect for polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid using simethicone
BACKGROUND AND AIM Low-volume polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid (PEG-Asc) use is reported to be as safe and effective as traditional 4-L polyethylene glycol use. However, PEG-Asc produces bubbles, which cause problems during colonoscopy. Data on the effects of using antifoaming agents such as simethicone with PEG-Asc are lacking. The aim of this CONSORT-prospective, randomized, observer-bl...
متن کاملPolyethylene glycol powder solution versus senna for bowel preparation for colonoscopy in children.
OBJECTIVES Safety and effectiveness of large-volume polyethylene glycol-based solution (PEG-ES) have been documented, but the taste and volume can be barriers to successful colonoscopy preparation. Efficacy and safety of small-volume electrolyte-free (PEG-P) preparation (Miralax) for colonoscopy preparation have been rarely studied, although presently used at many pediatric centers. The primary...
متن کاملDouble-blind Prospective Randomized Study Comparing Polyethylene Glycol to Lactulose for Bowel Preparation in Colonoscopy
BACKGROUND Colonoscopy is the most frequent exam used to evaluate colonic mucosa, allowing the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. The appropriate bowel preparation is indispensable for the realization of colonoscopy. Therefore, it is necessary the use of laxative medications, preferentially by oral administration. AIM To compare two medications used in bowel preparation in adult patien...
متن کاملA Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials of Low-Volume Polyethylene Glycol plus Ascorbic Acid versus Standard-Volume Polyethylene Glycol Solution as Bowel Preparations for Colonoscopy
BACKGROUND Standard-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG) gut lavage solutions are safe and effective, but they require the consumption of large volumes of fluid. A new lower-volume solution of PEG plus ascorbic acid has been used recently as a preparation for colonoscopy. AIM A meta-analysis was performed to compare the performance of low-volume PEG plus ascorbic acid with standard-volume PEG as ...
